I came to work with a full A4 to-do list, and managed to tick off maybe a third of it. Some stuff got postponed, since the persons I needed to talk to either weren't in, or asked me to come back next week when they were less busy. Fair enough. The rest will have to wait until Friday, as tomorrow I'm working from home doing parchment data entry.

The day ended with the tradititional kick-off, when we gather staff and new and old students for two hours to mingle and chat. I think only two of "my" students came, which is a bit of a shame. It's nice to meet them in a more informal way at the start of term, and for many this is the first course they do in archaeology, or even at university. After this afternoon I won't see them until the end of November when the course I'm teaching is starting.

But a lot of other students were there, including most of the new master course. Always fun to hear what projects they're planning for their MA dissertation. There's one I'm really hoping will go through, but she's dependent on others for approval/money for sampling. But a lot of talk was about the excavation they'll start next week. All the logistics for the students new to Lund: how do I get to site in the easiest/cheapest/quickest way. Luckily for them, it's mainly a decision between cycling or taking the bus (at least if they live in Lund). It's an interesting site, and I'll probably find a good excuse to visit one day when the weather is nice.

The archaeology student association, Knut, had brought their merchandise, and new for this term was a little badge of their logo - in the style of a medieval coin. Of course I had to buy one and advertise our awesome little student club!
