So what’s an ossamenta then?

Ossamenta is the Latin word for bone collection. I have one under my bed. There’s one at work too, although only a small part of it is mine.

”Bones?” you ask. Bones are my profession. Animal bones in particular, at least for the last six years. Two introductory lectures in osteology during my archaeology studies in Lund got me interested, and after the first term of osteology I was hooked.

I complemented my studies in Sweden with an MA in osteology at Southampton, after which I was thoroughly in need of a break from academia, having been at university for six years straight. I worked as a field archaeologist in Sweden for two years, and then got a job as a bone specialist for an Irish archaeological company. Then came an opportunity I could not refuse, and in 2005 I moved to England, for a job as an animal bones specialist for one of the largest archaeological companies in the UK.

As usual, the blog contents does not necessarily reflect the opinion of my employer yadda yadda… You know the drill.
